FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Jonathan’s Path announced today that the Tennessee General Assembly approved a $500,000 investment in the state’s 2026-27 budget to support the launch and expansion of the organization’s progressive housing model for youth in foster care and young adults transitioning out of care.

The funding will help establish Tennessee’s first readiness-based residential home specifically designed for foster youth at risk of aging out of the system without stable housing or long-term support. The initiative is intended to provide young people with a consistent, family-style environment focused on stability, mentorship, accountability and preparation for independent adulthood.

Unlike traditional foster care placements that often involve repeated disruptions and transitions at age 18, Jonathan’s Path’s “Path Home” model is designed to provide continuity and long-term support as youth develop life skills, pursue education and employment opportunities, and transition successfully into adulthood.

“We are incredibly grateful to Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson and State Representative Jeremy Faison for their leadership and support in securing this funding,” said Carrie DuRard, executive director and co-founder of Jonathan’s Path. “We also appreciate the members of the Tennessee General Assembly, legislative leadership and the finance committees for recognizing the importance of investing in young people transitioning out of foster care.”

Johnson said the investment reflects Tennessee’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable youth and strengthening outcomes for young adults aging out of foster care.

“Every child deserves stability, opportunity and a support system that helps them succeed,” Johnson said. “Jonathan’s Path is providing a meaningful solution for young people transitioning into adulthood, and this investment will help ensure more foster youth have access to safe housing, mentorship and the tools they need to build successful futures.”

Faison said the organization’s work will have a lasting impact on the lives of Tennessee youth.
“Jonathan’s Path is making a real difference for some of Tennessee’s most vulnerable young people,” Faison said. “This funding will help create a stable and supportive environment that can positively shape lives for years to come.”

Jonathan’s Path recently closed on its first home in Murfreesboro and expects to welcome its first residents in the coming months.
