driving futures forward in middle tennessee
Every Teen Deserves the Freedom to Move. The Chance to Grow. The Power to Choose Their Future.
Transportation shouldn’t be a barrier to success — but for many teens aging out of foster care in Middle Tennessee, it is.
The Wheels of Opportunity Path is a community-powered initiative dedicated to removing transportation as an obstacle for youth striving for independence, education, and employment. We help eligible teens secure access to safe, reliable vehicles — putting opportunity back in their hands.

Why It Matters
Safe, reliable, and accessible transportation is essential for getting to work or school, attending medical appointments, running errands, and staying socially connected. But for many young people—especially those in rural areas—these options are limited or unavailable.
In areas where services are spread out, just getting to a doctor or job interview can mean long travel times and tough choices: spend majority of their income money on transportation or go without something essential. This creates a cycle of isolation and missed opportunities.
Everyone deserves the freedom to move through their community—and for young people transitioning into adulthood, that freedom is critical. That’s why we’re here to help.
How it works
STEP 1: Connect & Qualify
Eligible teens (ages 16–23) are nominated or apply directly.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and show proof of having experience driving. (Additional driver’s lessons can be provided to boost your confidence behind the wheel upon request)
- Must have stable employment and ability to obtain and maintain car insurance. (Don’t worry we will walk you through setting up a plan to get you covered)
- Must provide a reference or letter of recommendation if applying directly.
- Buying your first car is an exciting milestone for any teen, but it can also feel overwhelming and financially out of reach. At Jonathan’s Path, we’re here to help make that dream a reality—without taking away the thrill of your first big purchase.
