Financial Future Path Workshops
Earn up to $800 while building financial skills for independence
This 3-part Financial Empowerment Series is designed to support teens in foster care and Bright Futures (EFC) in learning essential financial skills for adulthood.
Participants will learn financial basics, how to plan for major purchases like a car, and how to create a realistic budget.
Participants can earn up to $800 total for completing the program and required activities. In addition to the workshop stiped, there is a $1 for $1 match up to $1,000 when enrolled in our Financial Future Path Savings Program.
Session Details
Session 1: Financial Literacy Basics & Building a budget
Participants will learn the foundational concepts of managing money.
Topics include:
Understanding credit scores
Banking basics
Responsible borrowing
Building savings and emergency funds
Session 2: Saving for a Car
This session focuses on preparing financially to purchase and maintain a vehicle.
Topics include:
The real cost of owning a car
Budgeting for insurance, gas, and maintenance
Saving strategies for large purchases
Avoiding high-interest auto loans
Session 3: Building a Personal Budget
Participants will learn how to organize their finances and build a realistic monthly budget.
Topics include:
Tracking income and expenses
Understanding spending habits
Creating a monthly budget
Setting financial goals
Eligibility
Participants must:
• Be in foster care in Middle Tennessee or Bright Futures
• Commit to attending all three sessions
• Complete program assignments
• Open a checking and enroll in JP Financial Future Savings Program
Selected participants will receive:
• Program schedule
• Virtual Session location information
• Program materials
• Instructions for stipend payments
